Physical validation of simulators in computer graphics

چکیده

We introduce a selected set of protocols inspired from the Soft Matter Physics community in order to validate Computer Graphics simulators slender elastic structures possibly subject dry frictional contact. Although these were primarily intended for feature film animation and visual effects, they are more used as virtual design tools predicting shape deformation real objects; hence need careful, quantitative validation. Our tests, experimentally verified, designed evaluate carefully predictability on various aspects, such bending elasticity, bend-twist coupling, have passed number popular codes through our benchmarks by defining rigorous, consistent, fair possible methodology. results show that while some plates/shells contact fail even simplest scenarios, recent ones, well well-known rods, generally perform sometimes better than reference commercial Mechanical Engineering. To make validation easily applicable any simulator, we provide an extensive description methodology, shall distribute all necessary model data be compared against.

A Physical Sampling Metric for Image-based Computer Graphics

Computer models of the real world often use images of the environment to capture realistic visual complexity. Image-based modeling techniques permit the creation of geometric models with a high level of visual detail from photographs. These models are textured by resampling these images of the scene; we call this process image-based texturing. The problem with traditional image-based texturing ...

COMPUTER GRAPHICS OPTIQUE Optical Superposition of Projected Computer Graphics

We present some ideas and demonstrations for a hybrid projectorbased rendering and display technique we call Computer Graphics Optique. Instead of partially overlapping projected images to achieve a wide-area display, we completely overlap projected images on top of each other to achieve the addition of light and color in an “optical composition buffer.” The idea is to use the optical compositi...

PDEs in Computer Graphics

Colorization is a computer-assisted process of adding color to a monochrome image or movie. The process typically involves segmenting images into regions and tracking these regions across image sequences. Neither of these tasks can be performed reliably in practice; consequently, colorization requires considerable user intervention and remains a tedious, time-consuming, and expensive task. In t...
